Pushpalata Dance Company (1992 - ) Pushpalata Dance Company (1992 - ) Indian classical dancer Priya Pawar specialises in the dance forms Kathak and Odissi. She pioneered the experimentation of classical Indian dance and in particular Kathak and Flamenco and Afro-Caribbean dance. Priya Pawar founded the Pushpalata Dance Company in 1992 to provide a platform for dancers trained in Britain.

Shobana Jeyasingh Dance Company (1988 - ) Shobana Jeyasingh Dance Company (1988 - ) The Shobana Jeyasingh Dance Company was established in London in 1988 by classical dancer Shobana Jeyasingh. Using the classical Indian dance form Bharata Natyam as the basis for her exploration of dance and modern performance, Jeyasingh layers the tradition with contemporary and complex dance movements. Through the dance company, Shobana Jeyasingh envisages the creation of an evolving dance language which expresses her personal British Indian identity, and creates work which challenges narrow views of cultural boundaries.
